The name is based on your Alien Registration Card(ARC).
If the name is written in Korean on your Alien Registration Card(ARC), you can change the name on the mobile carrier to Korean.

Yes, you can use U+ postpaid plan with the same number you used for the prepaid SIM card.
However, for a prepaid SIM card activated with a passport, the same number can be used after changing your personal information from the passport to the Alien Registration Card(ARC) at the existing mobile carrier.

Currently, you can only sign up for a postpaid plan after the Alien Registration Card(ARC) is issued. (The same applies to postpaid plans of all mobile carriers.)

LG U+ is preparing to introduce a prepaid plan that can be registered with a passport until the Alien Registration Card(ARC) is issued.
With this new plan, you may switch to a postpaid plan and verify your identity via the PASS app while using the same mobile phone number you’ve used before.

The change of ownership is only available for family members, and it’s required to provide document(s) to verify the family relations.

Certificate of alien registration or any other documents proving the family relations
An original copy of documents proving the family relations issued by the country of nationality or embassy and notarized in Korean translation
(Documents with the seals of the issuing authority and the notary public are acceptable only.)
In case of Hogubu(China), it is available without a notarized translation.

The 25% discount contract and the mobile phone subsidy are discount benefits that you can receive when you sign up for a postpaid service.
You may choose either the 25% discount contract or the mobile phone subsidy.

Through the 25% discount contract, you can get a 25% discount on the monthly plan.
With the mobile phone subsidy, you can get a discount on the price of the device at the time of purchase. The amount of the discount will vary, based on the purchase timing.
(However, if you terminate within the contract period, a penalty will be imposed.)

If you use U+ mobile and Internet, or U+ mobile and TV service, or
if your family members or friends use U+ service, then you can receive bundled discounts.
(However, if you want to receive bundled discounts with your friends, the billing account must be consolidated.)

If you are leaving the country permanently, you must cancel your mobile and internet service. Upon termination, installments and penalties may arise, and late payments can detrimentally affect your personal credit history. You can transfer the money from the existing billing account in the following month, or pay your bills immediately.

For temporary suspension, you can suspend a line twice in a 12-month period. The suspension can last up to 180 days, and KRW 4,400 per month will be charged. For example, if your line was temporarily suspended from January 1, 2022 to January 10, 2022, it is counted as one time since your line was suspended on January 7, 2022, which is one year before the application date (January 7, 2023). For the long-term temporary suspension, if objective evidence such as long-term stay abroad is available (e.g., airplane tickets), there is no limit to the number of suspensions and the number of suspension days, and KRW 4,400 per month will be charged.

When you sign up for a phone contract with your Alien Registration Card(ARC)/Overseas Korean Resident Card/Permanent Resident Card as a foreigner, you can use the identity verification service with the PASS app. However, you must fill in the same name as the one you first signed up with the mobile carrier in order to verify your identity with the PASS app. For example, even though “PIAO XUANQI-NG” is written on the Alien Registration Card(ARC), if the name you first signed up with the mobile carrier is “PIAO XUANQING,” you must fill in “PIAO XUANQING,” which is the name on the mobile carrier, specifically without a hyphen, when verifying with the PASS app.

When you sign up for a phone contract with your Alien Registration Card(ARC)/Overseas Korean Resident Card/Permanent Resident Card as a foreigner, you can use the identity verification service with the PASS app. For prepaid plans activated with a passport, authentication is not available on the PASS app. (The same applies to Koreans.)
