If you are leaving the country permanently, you must cancel your mobile and internet service. Upon termination, installments and penalties may arise, and late payments can detrimentally affect your personal credit history. You can transfer the money from the existing billing account in the following month, or pay your bills immediately.
For temporary suspension, you can suspend a line twice in a 12-month period. The suspension can last up to 180 days, and KRW 4,400 per month will be charged. For example, if your line was temporarily suspended from January 1, 2022 to January 10, 2022, it is counted as one time since your line was suspended on January 7, 2022, which is one year before the application date (January 7, 2023). For the long-term temporary suspension, if objective evidence such as long-term stay abroad is available (e.g., airplane tickets), there is no limit to the number of suspensions and the number of suspension days, and KRW 4,400 per month will be charged.

When you sign up for a phone contract with your Alien Registration Card(ARC)/Overseas Korean Resident Card/Permanent Resident Card as a foreigner, you can use the identity verification service with the PASS app. However, you must fill in the same name as the one you first signed up with the mobile carrier in order to verify your identity with the PASS app. For example, even though “PIAO XUANQI-NG” is written on the Alien Registration Card(ARC), if the name you first signed up with the mobile carrier is “PIAO XUANQING,” you must fill in “PIAO XUANQING,” which is the name on the mobile carrier, specifically without a hyphen, when verifying with the PASS app.
